Carré des Jardiniers in 2023

Carré des Jardiniers 2023 theme: Biodiver'cité: How to inhabit in the city of tomorrow?

The urban environment is where two-thirds of the French population live. It varies from the dense city center to the quieter periurban sprawl. Urban life is often dynamic, ever-changing, and noisy, thrusting citizens into a tumult that can sometimes feel anxiety-inducing, stressful, and unsettling. Creative energy, which sometimes coexists with isolation and fragmented encounters, bursts forth and brings all possibilities to life.

Parks and gardens are clearly identified as antidotes, with their diverse flora and fauna echoing the diversity found in the streets.

How can landscape design further contribute to the redefinition of urban life, explore new avenues, and infiltrate every part of the city?

"When the city becomes a garden, how does this garden permeate the city and become a place of experimentation for envisioning and constructing the city of tomorrow? All inhabitants, citizens, public organizations, or private entities, regardless of their origins or conditions, then become the builders and actors of biodiversity."
